Guillermo Habacuc Vargas, self-styled artist of Costa Rica, in one of his exhibitions at the Galeríam Códice has stated its worst opera: a dog, skin and bones, tied with a rope and left there to die of hunger and thirst.
Vargas had paid the children to catch a stray dog and then use it as "work". The artwork consisted of just watching the agony and suffering until death.
People in the show had been forbidden to bring food and water, anyone trying to move closer to care for the animal was removed in the wrong way with insults.
The message above the dog dying, made of a written croquettes reported that the phrase: "You are what you read."
Vargas was also selected to represent Costa Rica to the Central American Biennale in 2008.
The death of an animal is not art but cruelty
I arrived this report ... I hoped like others that had the usual cock, the usual joke via email, one of the many that I come every week.
Well .. I was wrong, as I discovered later on http://www.oipaitalia.com/maltrattamenti/appelli/costarica.html.
Every comment is unnecessary ... I always thought that art was something "beautiful" or "something" that would express feelings but without the "play" with the sadistic life of a living being innocent. The modern classical art and art have had and have links with the reality around us, they represented idealized ... but have never exploited sadistic beings not consenting.
Art is a prerogative of man (although some recent discoveries dismantle that my statement and enlargement to other living beings) and is often linked, since its origins, the sacred and magical: why damaging, because stain of something that is anything but art?
This is not art ... would be like to offend the thousands of artists, painters, sculptors, photographers, who knows how many other people that humanity has had and has .. is "only" a pure cruelty free to be a weaker than you, and then also coward.
If this is the evolution minchia ... ... we are just evil ![]()
EDIT: Many thanks to Julia for reporting
