Guillermo Habacuc Vargas, self-styled artist of Costa Rica, in one of his exhibitions at the Galeríam Code gave his worst work, a dog, skin and bones, tied with a rope and left there to die of hunger and thirst.
Vargas had paid children to catch a stray dog and then use it as "work". The artwork consisted of just watching the agony and suffering until death.
People in the exhibition had been forbidden to bring food and water, anyone who tried to approach to care for the animal was removed in the wrong way with insults.
The message above the dog dying, made of a written croquettes reported that the phrase: "You are what you read."
Vargas was also selected to represent Costa Rica at the Central American Biennial of 2008.

The death of an animal is not art but cruelty
